CALL-TO-ORDER
Lauren Patterson called the meeting to order on June 11th, 2025.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from the previous meeting (May 14th , 2025) were approved with a motion from Denise Routzahn and seconded by Pooja Channdelkar.
NEW BUSINESS
- Darrell Holden submitted a membership form to join the Health Council. A motion to vote from Michaela Willbanks and seconded by Donnie King. Darrell Holden was approved with unanimous decision.
Fentanyl Training (Joyce Craig)
- Joyce Craig gave an overview presentation of Fentanyl, covering many topics including: the history of Fentanyl, the legal uses, common misinformation, how Fentanyl enters the USA, signs of a Fentanyl overdose, and recovering from Fentanyl use.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Essence Grant Updates:
Stephanie Evans shared the following updates with the council:
- The Robertson County Chamber’s billboard is up. If you would like your image on the billboard, please email the image to Dr. Evans with “Member of Robertson County Health Council” visible on the image.
- 1000 “988” water bottles have been order to be handed out at Back to School bash. Additionally, 300 gunlocks have been secured to give out to the adults accompanying students. The goal is to secure 700 more.
- Dr. Evans shared statistics on TN suicide rates emphasizing the how rural communities in TN are being hit harder than urban, the rise of youth rates of suicide and the increase in firearm related suicide.
Robertson County Prevention Coalition
- Michaela Willbanks shared a meeting will be held at the library on 6/12/25 and will present an update on funds raised.
Youth/Family Services Directory- Lt. Holmes
- The Connections guide for Youth and their families is still a work in progress. This guide will be utilized by SRO’s and Councilors to provide assistance to students and their families. If you would like to be included in the guide please forward your information to Jholmes@robertsonsheriff.com
Health Department Updates:
Pooja Channdelkar gave the following updates:
- The Red Sand Project @ YMCA from 9-12. July is Human Trafficking Awareness Month help spread awareness with the Red Sand Project.
- Fight Flu- The Annual Fight Flu day will be 10/31. The Health Department will be providing Free Flu Shots. More info to come closer to date.
- The Health department will be working with three schools to provide training for students found vaping. This is to replace suspending these students. This will take place after school from 3:30-5:30pm.
Denise Routzahn gave the following updates:
- ISAH program: The Rent assistance program has ended, however there is still the possibility of assisting with first months rent and security deposits.
- MCCAA: On August 8th from 8-12 there will be a food giveaway. Questions? Please call @ 615-742-1113.
- The First Tuesday of every month from 6-7 there is a support group for Grandparents raising Grandchildren. 505 Hill St. Springfield, TN 37172.
Reminder for July Break
- Confirmed we are not meeting in the month of July. Next meeting is August 13th, we should be back at Vol State, but will confirm.
