Community Health Assessment (CHA) Updates

ESSENCE Subcommittee Updates

  • Stephanie Evans provided several updates to the council including:
    • United Way has finally received the ESSENCE grant funds. Once the council’s bank account has been opened, we will work on moving the funds to the account so the committee can begin making headway with their suicide prevention efforts.
    • Stephanie will be meeting with the school system on Friday (Sept. 13) to discuss what the committee can do to provide suicide prevention resources to the schools.
    • The regional leadership team at TDH’s Mid-Cumberland Office was alerted by TSPN’s ESSENCE team on an important trend their data is showing recently. The Mid-Cumberland Region is experiencing the largest increase in the # of suicide related visits to the ED for the age group 5-17 years of age. During August, typical daily ED visits nearly doubled related to this, and the region maintained consistent elevated levels throughout the month.
