Robertson County Health Council

Opening Remarks:
- Welcome was extended. Next meeting date was announced as April 14, 2021 at 12:30 pm.
- Roll call was taken.
- The February 10, 2021 minutes were approved with a motion from Stephanie Evans and a second from Anne Marie Bryant.
- Maria Smith’s application was presented to the Council for membership. She shared some of her background and work experience. She is currently the Training Director for TADAAS. For the past few years she has been doing trainings across the State for mental health, and substance abuse and round table recoveries. Stephanie Evans made a motion to accept the application with a second from Lynn Wood.
- Community Development Coordinator stated she had made all the corrections to the membership directory that had been sent to her. She asked that everyone recheck their information and if there were no further changes would send out the final draft. She asked members to retain their copy for future work with the Council and other members.
- Lauren Patterson, UT Extension Agent, provided a program in honor of March being nutrition month. Some of the programs mention were: Personalize Your Plate, Eat Well, Partners and More, Eat Smart and Move More, Faith Based programs, Cooking Matters for Teens, and Eat and Go. Ms. Patterson mention other services and programs offered by UT such as budgeting classes and food preparation classes. They want people to make healthy choices the easy choices.
- March is also Social Work month and Social Worker Jennifer Dusky did a presentation on what social workers do. Robertson County Schools has 6 social workers. Their job duties include: Attendance, identify homeless and unaccompanied youth, provide resources and referrals, aid in transporting youth for appointments when needed, attend disciplinary hearings, and participate in community action meetings.
- Co-Chair Lauren Patterson reviewed the draft revisions of the Robertson County Health Council 2021-2023-Strategic Plan-Goals and Strategies. The revisions were emailed out to the Council prior to the meeting. The vision is to help Robertson to be ranked within the top 5 healthiest counties in the State as measured by the Robert Wood Johnson County Health rankings. The five goals presented in the plan are:
- Alcohol Impaired Driving
- Food Environment Index
- Physical Inactivity
- Flu Vaccinations
- The document lists other health outcomes and health factors specific to Robertson County as identified in the County Health Rankings. Strategies were also listed for achieving each of the goals identified above. Ms. Patterson went over each of the strategies and activities listed for each goal.
- Two of the things strongly discussed was working toward having a health fair in 2022 and creating a Robertson County Health Council logo. Stephanie Evans asked if the RAM Clinic would be returning to Robertson County. Since no one knew she said she would find out and report back to the Council.
Committee Leads
- Stephanie Evans, Lead for Health and Well Being reminded everyone of Child Advocacy days and the Mental Health trainings scheduled for April 28 and May 12. Those interested can register on Eventbrite. Down Syndrome Rock Your Socks is scheduled for March 23rd. A food give-away is scheduled for May 7.

Coalition Leads
- Maria Smith reported Interfaith plans to meet with ministers to come up with ideas on grief and self-care.
- Matt Driscoll reported for My Fathers House. Mr. Driscoll reported they want to transform their transitional shelter into a year-round shelter. Agreements have been signed to help move the needle to make this happen. He feels they have a lot of momentum going and need to do a fundraising event that other people can piggyback on. They would like to have a 24-bed male facility at a stand-alone location.
- Ace Timmermeier reported for the Development and Prevention Coalition. They are planning a Drug Take Back Day for April.
