New Business:

  • United Way – Mary Jo Wiggins, Chief Development Officer of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, discussed the reopening of the United Way Office in Robertson County. She stated last fall UWMN started talking about the Robertson UW coming under their umbrella. Today UWMN serves Robertson, Cheatham, and Davidson County, and is having discussions with Williamson County, and is looking to serve additional counties outside the Nashville Davidson area. They are presently in the process of reopening a UW office in the basement of the UT Extension Building located on Fifth Avenue and North Main Street. They have hired an account manager Bryan Pulley who lives in Coopertown and will be starting work on April 1.  He will work in the Robertson and Cheatham area and will be responsible for raising funds and creating community partnerships. UW will focus on the social determinants of health, education and financial independence. They will run a 3 year grant funding cycle they feel will be more stable for non-profits, but for the coming year will fund the 15 agencies in Robertson County that were funded last year. They will use reserve funding in order to do this for 2019.  Ms. Wiggins noted UW funding was down across the country but their funding had remained stable. They plan to hire an additional staff person for the community engagement and impact side. The best number to call right now is 211 until their office is operational. The 211 service currently serves 48 counties.
  • Healthier Robertson County – Health Educator Rachel Wright distributed copies of her PowerPoint presentation. Copies of the presentation are on file and available on request.
  • Back to School Bash – Health Educator Rachel Wright reported on this year’s 11th annual Back to School Bash scheduled for Saturday, July 27 from 9-11 am at Springfield Middle School. Anyone interested in being a vendor should contact Ms. Wright.

Old Business:

  • Resource Directory – Rachel Goodman reported she has received all the updates. Her goal is to have the directory finished this month. She will send the directory out for review prior to printing.
  • Interfaith Recovery Coalition – Maria Smith reported the February meeting was held at the Calvary Baptist Church. They have planned 8 meetings at different locations. The next meeting is scheduled for March 21at either the Sheriff’s Department or the Library. The group will be talking about helping families and the many roles churches can play. On paper there are about 8-10 churches that are involved but are not always consistent in their attendance.
  • NAMI – NAMI still continues to meet the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm.
  • Stephanie Evans reported on a new program at Centerstone called Safe AT Home. The program provides ghost addresses for victims of domestic violence and abuse.  The program is designed to keep their abusers from finding them. There are only 3 people currently trained in Robertson County now in regards to the program. Any questions or referrals can be sent to Linda Ring or Stephanie Evans.

Adjournment

  • The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 pm.
